A breadboard model of a laser display system is described in detail and its operating procedure is outlined. The system consists of: a Model 52 argon krypton ion laser and power supply; an optical breadboard comprising a pocket cell light modulator, a galvonmeter beam deflector for vertical scanning, a unique multiple reflection beam steerer for horizontal scanning, and projection optics; a consumer television console to provide the video signal; and a rear-projection display screen. The systems exhibits a vertical resolution of about 270 lines and a horizontal resolution of about 100 spots per scan line. (Author)
