A review of all facets of the drug abuse problem is offered in this anthology of articles. Moral dilemmas of physicians operating treatment programs are presented at one end of the spectrum and problems of the mass media and education about drug abuse are at the other. Drugs in the military, drugs in the ghettoes, drugs in the work place, and drug use among parents are covered. Research philosophy and legal aspects are also reviewed and placed in perspective. These papers were presented at the Fourth Annual Western Institute of Drug Problems Summer School held at Portland, Oregon, in August, 1971. Statements from 21 speakers/authorities are compiled. (BL)
