A section for each country follows with these categories utilized where possible: national and state academies; government departments and official agencies; learned societies, professional institutions and other associations; foundations and trusts; government or official research establishments; industrial or commercial research organizations; and universities and colleges. Peaceful uses of outer space include scientific investigation, communication, meteorology, navigation, and directly allied subjects, with other basic subjects brought in where they seem important.
