The purpose of the Institute was to establish a dialogue between the people concerned with the fate of the publishing industry and those directly involved in it. Papers by eleven Canadians prominent in publishing and literature are presented to an audience made up of librarians, booksellers, government officials, educators, publishers and students. The subjects discussed are: trade publishing in Canada, editing, design and production, copyright, marketing, author-publisher relations and the future of publishing in Canada.
