Police Education in American Colleges and Universities: A Search for Excellence. Final Report.
Eastman, Esther M.
Three basic purposes underlay the project from which this report was developed. The first was to establish a profile of police education provided in American colleges and universities; the second was to identify strengths and weaknesses of current efforts in this area; and the third was to prepare substantive recommendations to facilitate the achievement of discernable and appropriate objectives of police education. The report is based on 364 out of 569 institutions that had indicated in a previous survey that they offered law enforcement education programs. Basic recommendations are made on 2- and 4-year core curricula, and on numerous other matters of significant interest to institutions of higher education engaged in criminal justice education.
