Arkansas Business and Economic Review: A Publication of the University of Arkansas.
Arkansas Business and Economic Review, v4 n3 August 1971
Two articles in this issue are of interest to educators. "The Concept of Management" suggests that a manager should be concerned with four problems: 1) processing information; 2) setting and clarifying organizational goals; 3) behavior of his subordinates; and 4) establishing communications channels and integrative relationships between himself and other organizational elements to aid in conceptualizing and recycling the management process. The second article reports an experiment in using programed instruction on televised tape for a first course administration. Several groups heard the material, either in lecture form or on tape, and were tested on it. Rigorous statistical techniques were not used, but it appeared the students learned more via programed instruction. More testing is needed to determine the optimum size of the learning group in programed instruction. (JK)
