Parent/Teacher Relations in Primary Schools.
Department of Education and Science, London (England).
This booklet contains examples of good practice in parent/teacher relations that were collected from schools in all parts of England, many of which are in the words of the head teachers. Topics discussed include: building the parent-teacher relationship in nursery school; infant school entry and transfer; methods of maintaining contact; parent involvement; parental practical help in construction, fund raising, and assisting teachers with school clubs and field trips; special problems; parent-teacher associations; local education authorities; medical and welfare services; and voluntary groups. The appendix presents four accounts, written by either heads of the schools or people who know the schools well, of a village school, a junior school, a city school, and a school with a high proportion of Indian immigrants.
