This report presents 4 tables that give a summary of all research doctorates earned during the period July 1, 1969 through June 30, 1970. Highlights of the findings are: (1) there were 14.4% more Ph.D.'s granted in fiscal year 1970 than the previous year; (2) 78.8% of all doctorate recipients planned to enter regular employment following graduation, 13.1% planned postdoctoral study, 1.7% were scheduled for military service, and 6.4% were uncertain; and (3) of those entering regular employment, 70% were to be employed in educational institutions, 15% in industry and business, 9% in government, and about 3% in nonprofit organizations.
