These lessons of the Defense Language Institute's 18-week "Short Course in Thai" are to be used with accompanying tape recordings and with the "Introduction to Thai Script" and "Glossary." The audiolingual text, for classroom use, is designed to train native-English speakers to level 1, elementary proficiency in speaking, understanding, and reading. Basic structural patterns of Thai are introduced along with vocabulary that is generally useful for Americans in Thailand.
