Introduction to the Community Junior College.
Landrith, Harold F.
Based largely upon original research and unpublished materials, this book provides basic information on the philosophy, functions, organization, students, curricula and faculty in the community junior college. The book is designed for graduate programs which prepare community college teachers and administrators; it includes information on requirements and opportunities for junior college careers. Each chapter is designed to be a unit in a course and has additional references at the end. Topics covered are: a general description of American higher education, the junior college movement, major junior college functions, student characteristics, administrative organization, student personnel services, training and selection of faculty, faculty and administrative responsibilities, and predictions of future trends. The appendices include a general bibliography, a list of accrediting agencies, and a list of all the public junior colleges by state in 1969-70. (LP)
