Role of Universities in National Development Planning in Southeast Asia.

This is the report of a workshop that was held to explore new ways in which universities can contribute more fully to the planning and implementation of development programs in the countries of Southeast Asia. Part 1 of the workshop took into account the existing relationships between universities and government planning and/or development agencies. Part 2 concerned itself with the orientation of arts and science education to meet national and regional needs. Parts 3 and 4 were centered around increasing the contributions of universities in national development planning through research, consulting and training, and part 5 dealt with programming future changes in the role of universities in national development planning.
