The Work Sample: Reality-Based Assessment of Vocational Potential.
Mobilization for Youth, Inc., New York, NY.
Developed as a handbook, this document is intended to serve as a technical guide for establishing vocational evaluation units as a means of screening minorities for successful job placement and fulfillment. In the proposed vocational evaluation units, the potential employee uses the tools, materials, and equipment of a given occupation in a simulated work atmosphere, and is evaluated solely on these work samples. This "how-to" manual discusses: (1) The Development of Work Samples, (2) Establishment and Operation of the Vocational Evaluation Unit, and (3) The Selection, Training, and Supervision of Vocational Evaluators. Work sample units of this type would be useful in Federal manpower training centers and in high schools across the country. (JS)
