Origin and Development of Industrial Education at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College.
Smith, Jay T.
This study covering the last 100 years in the development of industrial education at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College was prompted by the need to determine the role of the college in the development of industrial education in the state of Mississippi. Sources of data included college catalogs, reports of the college administration and board of trustees, personal correspondence, commercial publications, government publications, and conference and workshop proceedings. Major factors which hindered development at Alcorn were found to be inadequate financial support, inadequate facilities and equipment, and the lack of cooperation and support of the college administration until recent years.
