The data presented in this publication were obtained in the fourth annual Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS IV), which included a questionnaire on financial statistics for the year 1968-69. Revenues and expenditures were listed under the following categories: (1) educational and general revenues (expenditures); (2) student aid grants; (3) major public service programs; and (4) auxiliary enterprises. The summary tables present data on current fund revenues (expenditures) of institutions of higher education by control, region, and state for fiscal years 1967-68 and 1968-69; and on enrollment, current funds expenditures, and expenditures per student by control and level of institution: aggregate United States, for fiscal years 1967-68 and 1968-69. The basic tables present data on current fund revenues (expenditures) by control, level of institution, and source (function), aggregate United States for fiscal year 1968-69; and on current funds revenues (expenditures) of higher education institutions by level of institution, control, region, state or other area and source (function): aggregate United States for fiscal year 1968-69. The methodology of the study, the institutions surveyed, the number of responding institutions, a list of nonrespondents, and the questionnaire are included in the appendices. (AF)
