The 13 stories in this collection were selected on the basis of their readability for beginning students of Oriya. This collection and its companion glossary form the first part of the series of materials designed to follow "Basic Lessons in Oriya" and "The Oriya Writing System." The order in which the stories are presented is determined on the basis of each story's length, the size and nature of its vocabulary, and grammatical complexity. A glossary is included as a separate volume. Th script of the text is entirely in Oriya.
