Basic Education for Adults: A Handbook for Teachers, Teacher Trainers, and Leaders.
Cass, Angelica W.
Basic education for adults offers men and women of all ages an opportunity to obtain those minimal skills that are needed if an individual is to function independently. It provides sequential educational training geared to the needs of adults who lack the skills required to read, write, figure, as well as the general knowledge necessary to secure adequate compensation necessary to daily living. An adult is defined as a person 16 years of age and over. Adult learning is related to many diversified factors. Since learning inevitably involves behavior change, the learning process in adults will be more gradual and subtle than in children. (CK)
