This combination text-workbook is designed to provide the reader with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach problem readers how to read. Coupled with coordinated video tapes and student workbooks, the book can be used by teachers, parents, volunteers, tutors, and aides. Instructional material includes units on the reading process, learning theory, word attack skills, sound categories (stops, nasals, laterals, vowels, etc.), and pronunciation rules. Also included are several reading selections, a teacher's edition of the companion student workbook, and general instructions for using the workbook and the video tapes.
