Volume One of a two-volume reader in modern Hebrew literature containing 30 units with selections from modern classical literature assumes the student's mastery of the basic elements of Hebrew grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. The selection is largely representative from a period prior to the establishment of the State of Israel and range from Mendele M. Sefarim to H. Hazaz. Major emphasis in the series is placed upon development of vocabulary and appreciation of style.
