Compensatory Education and the New Media.
Chazan, M., Ed.; Downes, G., Ed.
This is the third in a series of reports of a four-year research and development project of the Department of Education at the University College of Swansea, Wales. The aims of the project are: (1) to provide techniques which identify children in need of compensatory education at an early age; (2) to study longitudinally infant school children in deprived areas relative to emotional development and response to schooling; and, (3) to develop language materials for culturally deprived infant school children. Studies are being conducted in England and Wales, including those on the formation of teacher groups and displays of materials. The articles in this publication include: the role of television, production of television programs, story-telling as recorded on film-strips and tape, suggestions on the use and purchase of "hardware," and use of the tape recorder in the classroom.
