This edition is designed to help teachers and librarians in selecting a basic collection for the professional library in the school or school system. This bibliography is a tool which can serve as a foundation for a professional collection; it is not a comprehensive bibliography in the field of education. Therefore, the materials included are selected for their usefulness to educators with emphasis on materials covering the areas of teaching methods, teaching aids, and sources of materials. Materials are provided which will assist the working teacher in his day-to-day teaching and to enable him to keep abreast of current developments in education and allied fields.
