A Handbook for Administrators: A Guide for Speech and Hearing Programs.

Guidelines for establishing and developing programs for speech and hearing impaired children are presented. The information is intended to be of value in planning, developing, administering, and evaluating programs in Tennessee public schools. Part 1, for administrators, outlines standards and other information related to the following aspects of speech and hearing programs: types of positions, approval of schools, employment standards, specialist certification, program initiation, administration, and roles of involved personnel and of the State Department of Education. Part 2, a guide for speech and hearing specialists, covers such topics as identification and eligibility of children, determination of case load, scheduling, grouping, and coordination time. Part 3 describes and lists offices of ancillary agencies - the Tennessee Department of Public Health, and hearing and speech centers.
