This report presents national normative data on characteristics of students entering college as first-time freshmen during the summer and fall of 1970. It is the 5th in a series of annual reports and part of an ongoing longitudinal research program conducted by the Office of Research of the American Council on Education. The data are reported separately for men and women, for several types of institutions, and for different types of geographic regions of the country in 24 separate norm groups. The data is based on responses from 180,684 freshmen entering 275 institutions, and concerns personal characteristics, family background, religious preferences, financial concerns, political attitudes, expectations, high school record, values, race, and others.
