Environmental Science Conference for State Supervisors of Science (Portland State University, Portland, Oregon, May 1-5, 1970).

The Conference report reviewed the status of man's environment and drafted guidelines for state education agencies to use for developing state programs related to environmental education. The six featured speakers and topics were: Kessler Cannon--"Report of the Governor's Committee on Natural Resources;" Dr. Harry Kramer--"Environmental Problems and Education;" Dr. Donald W. Stotler--"Environmental Education as Liberation;" Dr. Karl Dittmer--"Environmental Studies as a Basis for Science Education;" Dr. John H. Thomas--"Ecological Principles as a Part of General Education;" George Schroeder--"Industry and the Environment." Reaction panels and small group sessions followed each of the major presentations. Guidelines and conclusions resulting from the panel presentations and group sessions are presented. (BB)
