Derivation of a Simulation Model of a University Library System.
Models are one of the tools of operation research which may have applications in the library field. This study is an attempt to establish a simple model for administrative purposes in a university library system. Two measures of a university library system were studied: (1) the cost of adding a volume to the collection and (2) the use of the collection on a per capita basis. The present study requires further analysis prior to computer manipulation and before full-scale models can be developed for solutions to decision-making problems, the development of considerable new data is required.
