Data for this 24th annual report on opening fall enrollment in higher education were collected from two questionnaires. The preliminary questionnaire requested total enrollment, as well as first time enrollment by sex and by full- or part-time attendance. The supplementary questionnaire called for a variety of detailed breakdowns. Summary tables show national totals for survey items by institutional control, level of institution, and State for fall 1969, as well as trend data from 1963. Because many institutions were unable to provide final enrollment counts by the date requested and because some were obliged to make partial estimates, no data on individual institutions are included in this report. All totals and subtotals presented are subject to change when the results of the supplementary enrollment survey are published. (Author)
