Individualizing Instruction in Science and Mathematics.

This anthology of articles originally published between 1964 and 1969 has two sections: one describing methods of individualizing instruction in science and mathematics with some examples of successful practices, and the second containing seven papers, five dealing with the use of computers to individualize instruction, one with the impact of technology on education, and one discussing the use of systems analysis in educational planning. Six of the 11 papers in the first section are concerned with science instruction, four with mathematics and one describes three meanings of "inquiry methods." Programed learning, computer assisted instruction, audio-taped instruction for laboratory demonstrations, and the use of a multi-media learning laboratory are described. Suggestions are given for developing and assessing individualized instructional procedures. (AL)
