Curriculum Guide for Latin Heritage in Secondary Schools.
Cutt, Eula; And Others
A statement of educational objectives and an outline of course content for one year of Latin study are followed by a wide variety of sample lessons. They include lessons on grammar, etymology, and civilization. Pattern drills treating verbs and nouns are included. Sections containing sample conversations, stories, story-telling and note-taking, student compositions, and tests are followed by an idea exchange on ways to improve student motivation. Some 26 lists of classified vocabulary, sections on mythology, signs of the zodiac, planets, mottoes, Greek and Roman culture, and exercises for the text "Gods, Heroes and Men of Ancient Greece" are also contained in the guide. The appendixes cover: (1) 21 dialogues, (2) an index of transparencies, and (3) sources of audiovisual materials. A bibliography concludes the guide.
