Stating Behavioral Objectives for Classroom Instruction.

The booklet, designed as a practical guide, deals with the preparation of instructional objectives for teaching and testing. Emphasized are the statement of instructional objectives as learning outcomes and the definition of the objectives in terms of specific types of behavior (knowledge or skills) expected of students at the end of the learning experience. The procedure for identifying and defining instructional objectives as learning outcomes is described and illustrated with examples. How the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives can be used in this procedure is explained. Factors involved in the selection of objectives for particular subject areas are presented, and the use of objectives in classroom teaching, construction of tests, and grading and reporting is described. Appended are helpful guide lists: a check list for evaluating objectives, verbs for defining objectives, and reference guides for defining instructional objectives. (KW)
