The present volumes comprise the first three of a forthcoming six-volume series in a comprehensive course in English as a second or foreign language for students of high school or college age. Materials are graded in content and selected for their "natural and conversational" form. Each Volume contains 20 units based on the following format: a short dialog to be memorized introducing the new grammar points of the unit; a "Study" section presenting the grammatical structures in frames; "Practice,""Speak,""Read," and "Pronounce" sections which provide for a wide variety of exercises to develop and reinforce the student's linguistic skills; and a "Copy" section designed for simple transcription or dictation practice. Special features include intonation markings for the dialogs, and facial diagrams. With short descriptions of the articulation to aid in pronunciation problems.
