Education and Training in Correctional Institutions. Proceedings of a Conference.

The conference appraised the effects of educational and training programs in correctional institutions and emphasized analytical reports, research findings, and project evaluations. The speakers and participants at the meeting were officials from Federal and state agencies, and members from academic institutions engaged in research and extension activities. Five speeches were presented at the conference and rebuttal remarks were provided by other conference participants. The speeches were: (1) "Lessons Learned from Vocational Training Programs Given in a Prison Setting" by Curtis Aller, (2) "Management of Transfer from Jail to Community" by Clyde Sullivan, (3) "Employment Problems of Released Prisoners: Dimensions and Sociological Implications" by George Pownall, and (4)"Changing Inmates Through Education" by Calvin Michael.
