The Peace Corps and the Development of Foreign Language Instructional Materials. An Annotated Bibliography.
Brown, Judith
The Center for Applied Linguistics, as a part of its tenth anniversary celebration, has undertaken the preparation of a comprehensive report on the language involvement of the United States Government. The first aspect of this study was a survey of instructional materials developed by the Peace Corps since its establishment in 1961. This resulting annotated bibliography serves as a record of the Peace Corps' achievement in the field, and as a reference source of information concerning more than 100 languages. The 304 entries are grouped in five geographic areas: Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America and the Caribbean. A final section, International Languages, includes a substantial number of titles in Spanish and French. Further information on the materials listed in this bibliography may be obtained from the Director, Division of Language Training, Peace Corps, Washington, D.C. 20525. (AMM)
