AV Instructional Materials Manual; A Sslf-Instructional Guide to AV Laboratory Experiences. Third Edition.
Brown, James W., Ed.; Lewis, Richard B., Ed.
This self-instructional guide to audiovisual laboratory experiences contains 50 exercises designed to give the user active experiences in the practical problems of choosing, using, and inventing instructional materials and in operating and audiovisual equipment. With the exception of the first four exercises (which introduce the user to the manual and to audiovisual materials), each exercise contains purposes, required materials, and assignments. Exercises five through 22 deal with creating instructional materials and include instruction in drawing letters, designing displays, simple sketching, chalkboard techniques, graphs and time lines, flannel and magnetic boards, mounting flat pictures, making still pictures, and making motion pictures. The third group of exercises (23 through 38), which provides instruction in selecting and using ready-made materials, includes analyzing educational media centers and classroom facilities; locating information and media; teaching with flat pictures; and using recordings, films, programed materials, maps, radio programs, and television. The last group of exercises, concerned with equipment operation, provides instruction in record and tape players, projection principles, television equipment, and equipment maintenance. Appended are a source directory, a basic reference list, and a laboratory checklist. (SP)
