This final report summarizes the activities and accomplishments of a 3-year cooperative project (Dakota ACCORD) designed to stimulate and support educational research in three private liberal arts colleges located in North and South Dakota. Specific project objectives were: (1) to develop an awareness of research opportunities and skills among the faculty and administrators within the cooperating institutions; (2) to stimulate faculty members to engage in research; and (3) to involve the cooperating colleges in a common research and development program. Methods used to attain these objectives during the project are described and briefly evaluated. The development of a research capability in these colleges affected the total academic process by increasing faculty competence in both scholastic and instructional areas. Consequently, the report recommends extension of the program to other small developing colleges as a means of upgrading faculty quality and standards. The appendix contains extracts from previous project proposals and annual reports, and a list of related project documents. (JH)
