This 15th annual national survey of public elementary and secondary school statistics presents data as of fall 1968 for each State, the District of Columbia, seven outlying areas, and the 14 largest cities. Questionnaires completed by State departments of education provide data on the number of local school districts, enrollment by grade, high school graduates, teachers, pupil-teacher ratios, instruction rooms, estimated school expenditures by major purpose, and average salaries of instructional staff and classroom teachers.
