The goal of this series of inservice teacher education units is to help classroom teachers understand the disadvantaged, to suggest promising teaching techniques and approaches, to stimulate thought and discussion among teachers, and to improve human relations throughout the field of education. The first unit identifies the disadvantaged student and duscusses his educational needs, the attitudes and roles of teachers, and the nature of the learning process; the second unit describes specifically the social and psychological characteristics of the disadvantaged student, concentrating particularly on his learning style. In each of these units the major points are summarized and questions for discussion and a bibliography are included.
