Applications of the new media to the study and practice of medicine is the concern of all three articles in this journal. Two of the articles discuss the idea and application of Tele-Diagnosis, a system whose function is to determine if effective physician-supervised emergency care can be delivered to an individual some distance from the physician via closed-circuit television supplemented with diagnostic and monitoring electronic devices. The third article outlines the many applications of television at the Duke University Medical Center. All three articles describe the equipment involved in some detail. (LS)
