Chapter V is made up of information on the attitudes and background of participants in an experimental freshman year program for underachieving high school graduates at Southern Illinois University. Included is a description of changes and differences among the students resulting from the experimental treatment and of the participants' reactions to the program. Data were collected from questionnaires administered to the students at the beginning and at the end of the treatment year (1962-1963). Appendixes contain copies of the questionnaires, two articles based on data collected from the program, and descriptions of response categories for various questionnaire items.
