The major point being made, then, is that we as educators can be far more effective if we can change our attitude toward emotional variables by removing these variables from the realm of ambiguity. The affective components of behavior in education must be seen as essential, rather than supplementary, to the learning process. Devices are being developed which will more effectively and efficiently handle many of the cognitive tasks with which the teacher now concerns herself, but it is most unlikely that a device will ever be developed which can deal as effectively with human emotions as can a human teacher.
