FOR EACH SUBJECT MATTER AREA, DESCRIPTIONS BY A HOME ECONOMIST PRESENTLY EMPLOYED IN THAT FIELD, AN OVERVIEW OF JOB POSSIBILITIES, AND GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING A COLLEGE ARE GIVEN. MOST POSITIONS IN HOME ECONOMICS ARE CLASSIFIED UNDER ONE OR ANOTHER OF THESE AREAS. APPROXIMATELY 400 COLLEGES WHICH OFFER DEGREES IN HOME ECONOMICS ARE LISTED WITH THE MAJORS THEY OFFER INDICATED. THE COLLEGES ARE LISTED BY STATE, AND THE TOWN IN WHICH EACH IS LOCATED IS GIVEN.
