A COLLEGE PRESIDENT POINTED OUT THE VALUES OF ACADEMIC RANK SYSTEMS IN PROMOTING TEACHER IMPROVEMENT. THE THIRD SPEAKER, A UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR, DISCUSSED THE DESIRABLE AND UNDESIRABLE FEATURES OF RANK AND OFFERED SOME WARNINGS CONCERNING ABUSE OF THE SYSTEM. (2) IN THE AFTERNOON SESSION, THREE SPEAKERS DISCUSSED STAFF-ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
