PROGRAM INFORMATION FROM 115 ETV STATIONS FOR THE WEEK APRIL 17-23, 1966, GIVES A GENERAL PICTURE OF EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION FOR THE YEAR 1966, AND TOGETHER WITH SIMILAR INFORMATION COLLECTED IN 1964, REVEALS TRENDS OVER THAT PERIOD. PROGRAMS FOR THE GENERAL AUDIENCE ARE INCREASING RELATIVE TO OTHER KINDS OF PROGRAMS, AND EMPHASIZE THE ARTS, PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND NEWS, AND CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS, WITH INCREASED WEEKEND PROGRAMING. PROGRAMS FOR THE SCHOOL AUDIENCE OCCUPY ONE-THIRD OF EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION'S SCHEDULE, WITH MATH AND SCIENCE PROGRAMS BEING THE MAJOR SUBJECTS BROADCAST. TELEVISION FOR THE COLLEGE INSTRUCTION AUDIENCE DECREASED IN 1966, BUT PROGRAMS FOR CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING ARE ON THE RISE. BOTH THE NUMBER OF STATIONS AND THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF THE BROADCAST WEEK HAVE CONTINUED TO INCREASE, WITH A GENERAL DECREASE IN LOCALLY PRODUCED PROGRAMS. STATISTICS ON BROADCAST TIME, PATTERNS, SOURCES, SUBJECTS, AND USE OF LIVE, RECORDED, AND REPEAT PROGRAMS ARE GIVEN. A MAILING LIST OF ETV STATIONS, WITH DESIGNATIONS AS TO CLASS OF OWNERSHIP IS INCLUDED IN THE APPENDICES.
