MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF THE VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PROCESS. FINAL REPORT.
EBER, HERBERT W.
THE LOGIC AND METHOD FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL REPRESENTING ASPECTS OF THE VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PROCESS ARE PRESENTED. THE PROJECT GOALS INCLUDED BUILDING A CONCEPTUAL STRUCTURE WITHIN WHICH VARIOUS FACTORS INFLUENCING REHABILITATION OUTCOME COULD BE MORE CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD, AND PREDICTING SOME OF THE VARIATIONS IN OUTCOME OF ANY CLIENT BASED ON THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE CLIENT'S FILE. BASED ON TWO PREVIOUS PILOT STUDIES, THE PRESENT STUDY RESULTED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL INCORPORATING METHODS OF REPRESENTING THE INFLUENCES OF THE COMMUNITY, COUNSELOR ACTIVITIES, AND CLIENT CHARACTERISTICS. THE 10 FACTORS EXTRACTED WERE--(1) VOCATIONAL ADEQUACY AT ACCEPTANCE, (2) SEX, (3) CLIENT MATURITY, (4) ACCEPTANCE OF WELFARE, (5) PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITY, (6) VOCATIONAL TRAINING SERVICE, (7) LONG TERM TRAINING, (8) PHYSICAL RESTORATION SERVICES, (9) VOCATIONAL ADEQUACY AT CLOSURE, AND (10) VOCATIONAL ADEQUACY AT FOLLOW-UP. THIS STRUCTURE WAS CONFIRMED BY A PARTIAL CROSS VALIDATION. CONTINUING RESEARCH EVALUATING THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THE FINDINGS, WHICH IS DESIGNED TO PERMIT THE UTILIZATION OF BROADER CATEGORIES OF DATA IS DESCRIBED. (CG)
