CITING DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES WHICH ARE TYPICAL OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, A CHAPTER CONCERNED WITH THE SELECTION OF ART EXPERIENCES SUITABLE TO THESE VARIOUS LEVELS OF DEVELOPMENT ENUMERATES (1) THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CHILD AND HIS VISUAL EXPRESSION, (2) GROWTH EXPECTATIONS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR MOTIVATION AND GUIDANCE, (3) SUGGESTED LEARNINGS, (4) EXPERIENCES EMPHASIZING DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF LEARNING, AND (5) TEACHING APPROACHES. THE FORMULATION OF OBJECTIVES AND THE EVALUATION OF STUDENT PROGRESS, TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS, AND CURRICULUM EFFECTIVENESS ARE THE SUBJECTS OF THE SUBSEQUENT CHAPTER. CONCERNED WITH THE RELATIONSHIP AND INTERACTION OF THE SCHOOL ART PROGRAM AND THE COMMUNITY, THE CONCLUDING CHAPTER EMPHASIZES THE NEED FOR THE CULTIVATION OF AN INFORMED AND COOPERATIVE CITIZENRY.
