THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE DESIGN OF A NEW CLINIC AND LABORATORY FOR SPEECH AND HEARING TO ACCOMMODATE THE THREE BASIC PROGRAMS OF--(1) CLINICAL TRAINING OF UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT MAJORS, (2) SERVICES MADE AVAILABLE TO THE SPEECH AND HEARING HANDICAPPED, AND (3) RESEARCH IN SPEECH PATHOLOGY, AUDIOLOGY, PSYCHO-ACOUSTICS, AND BIO-ACOUSTICS. THE DESIGN SOLUTION INCLUDES A WINDOWLESS SPACE, BELOW GRADE, WITH CONTROLLED LIGHTING AND AIR-CONDITIONING, AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SURFACE TREATMENT AND FINISHES, FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT, SPACE RELATIONSHIPS, AND CONSTRUCTION COSTS. DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS WERE GIVEN FOR--(1) A MOTO-KINESTHETIC LABORATORY WITH OBSERVATION FACILITIES, A RECORD-REPRODUCTION CONSOLE, AND A NATURAL ACOUSTIC ENVIRONMENT, (2) A PHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY WITH EXAMINATION INSTRUMENTS, A MOBILE LARYNGEAL LABORATORY, AND A ELECTROENCEPHALIGRAPH, (3) ACOUSTIC LABORATORIES WITH SPECIAL SOUND TREATMENT, SOUND GENERATING INSTRUMENTS, AND A MASTER CONTROL PANEL, AND (4) SPECIAL REVERBERANT AND ANECHOIC CHAMBERS. ILLUSTRATIONS SHOW FLOOR PLANS AND DETAILS OF THE MOTO-KINESTHETIC LABORATORY, THE ACOUSTIC CONTROL CENTER CONSOLE, AND THE ANECHOIC CHAMBER.
