BETWEEN JANUARY AND MAY OF 1967, REPRESENTATIVES FROM MINNESOTA COLLEGES MET FOR FIVE CONFERENCES ON ENGLISH TEACHER PREPARATION. EQCH CONFERENCE DEALT WITH A SPECIFIC AREA OF ENGLISH EDUCATION--SPEECH, COMPOSTITION, THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, LITERATURE, AND METHODS. PARTICIPANTS RECOMMENDED EFFECTIVE MEANS OF IMPLEMENTING THE NEW MINNESOTA REGULATIONS ON CERTIFICATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHERS. THIS FINAL REPORT OF THE CONFERENCES CONTAINS THE ADDRESSES OF THE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS AND OF A SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER WHO SPOKE ON THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE CLASSROOM, AS WELL AS SUMMARIES OF THE RESULTS OF DISCUSSION GROUPS. AN INTRODUCTION DETAILING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW CERTIFICATION REGULATIONS AND PREPARATION FOR THE CONFERENCES, AND OF THE FORMAT FOR A SIXTH CONFERENCE TO BE HELD FOR THE CONCERNED PUBLIC IS ALSO INCLUDED.
