IN CHAPTER TWO, CHARACTERISITICS OF THE EDUCABLE MENTALLY RETARDED, DEFINITION, ETIOLOGY, HISTORY, AND DISCOVERY OF THE CHILD ARE DISCUSSED. TEACHING TECHNIQUES AND GENERAL EXPERIENCES ARE THE TOPICS OF CHAPTER THREE WITH REFERENCE TO DISCIPLINE AND TEACHER-PARENT RELATIONSHIPS. CHAPTERS FOUR AND FIVE CONTAIN AN ANALYSIS OF THE CURRICULUM, UNITS OF WORK AT VARIOUS LEVELS, AND RELATED PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. CHAPTERS SIX THROUGH THIRTEEN DEAL WITH THE PRESENTATION OF VARIOUS SUBJECT MATTER AND SENSORY TRAINING TO THE EDUCABLE RETARDED INCLUDING WRITING, SPELLING, MUSIC, ARTS AND CRAFTS, ARITHMETIC, AND AUDIO-VISUAL TRAINING.
