INTER-UNIVERSITY FILM PROJECT--THE COOPERATIVE WRITING AND TESTING OF SCRIPTS FOR A MOTION PICTURE SERIES TO BE USED IN TEACHER TRAINING.
GLIESSMAN, DAVID; WILLIAMS, DON G.
THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE INTER-UNIVERSITY FILM PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP AND EVALUATE A SERIES OF 20 "STIMULUS FILMS" FOR USE IN TEACHER EDUCATION. THE PRESENT PROJECT WAS TO DEVELOP 24 SUCH FILM SCRIPTS AND AN ACCOMPANYING INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDE. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SCRIPTS, TREATING PROBLEMS IN ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION, WAS BASED ON CLASSROOM TESTING, IN WHICH THE SCRIPTS WERE USED AS A STIMULUS FOR CLASS DISCUSSION. ON THE BASIS OF CLASS DISCUSSIONS AND REACTIONS, THE CONSULTANTS RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH SCRIPT MADE SUGGESTIONS FOR REVISION WHICH WERE ACTED UPON BY THE PRODUCER AND SCRIPT WRITERS. 22 OF THE 24 SCRIPTS WERE THUS TESTED. A CONFERENCE HELD IN KANSAS CITY IN JAN. 1966 SELECTED 5 SCRIPTS TO BE PRODUCED FIRST. PLANS FOR THE UTILIZATION AND EVALUATION OF THE FILMS ARE IN PROGRESS. (MS)
