FROM A STUDY OF 99 JUNIOR COLLEGES, THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES FOUR MAJOR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES OF COMMUNITY SERVICES--(1) TO MAKE THE COLLEGE A CENTER OF COMMUNITY LIFE THROUGH USE OF ITS FACILITIES BY COMMUNITY GROUPS, (2) TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES OF THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF TO ASSIST IN THE SOLUTION OF COMMUNITY PROBLEMS, (3) TO PROMOTE THE CULTURAL, INTELLECTUAL, SOCIAL, AND RECREATIONAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY, AND (4) TO INTERPRET THE COLLEGE AND ITS PROGRAM TO THE COMMUNITY AND ELICIT ITS ACTIVE SUPPORT. TABLES LIST DETAILS OF THE SERVICES THAT A BASIC COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM SHOULD INCLUDE.
