ONE OF A SERIES DESIGNED TO HELP TEACHERS PREPARE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT IN HORTICULTURE OCCUPATIONS, THIS MODULE AIMS TO DEVELOP STUDENT ABILITY TO MEET CUSTOMERS, PRESENT SUPPLIES AND SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS, OVERCOME RESISTANCE, AND CLOSE A SALE. IT WAS DESIGNED BY A NATIONAL TASK FORCE ON THE BASIS OF RESEARCH IN STATE STUDIES. SUGGESTIONS ARE INCLUDED FOR INTRODUCING THE MODULE. FOR EACH COMPETENCY, SUBJECT MATTER CONTENT, TEACHING-LEARNING ACTIVITIES, REFERENCES, INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS, AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCES ARE SUGGESTED. THE TIME ALLOTMENT SUGGESTED IS 30 HOURS OF CLASS INSTRUCTION AND 36 HOURS OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE. TEACHERS SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH HORTICULTURE, AND STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE AN OCCUPATIONAL GOAL IN HORTICULTURE. SUGGESTIONS ARE INCLUDED FOR EVALUATING OUTCOMES.
