STUDENT AND FIRST-YEAR TEACHERS' ATTITUDES TOWARD SELF AND OTHERS.
TUSKA, SHIRLEY A.; WRIGHT, BENJAMIN D.
THIS WAS A STUDY OF SELF AND ROLE CONCEPTION, OF THE CHILDHOOD RELATIONSHIP FROM WHICH THEY WERE FORMED, AND OF THE CHANGES WHICH TOOK PLACE AS A RESULT OF PRACTICE TEACHING AND FIRST-YEAR TEACHING. A QUESTIONNAIRE WAS USED TO RECORD THE PROSPECTIVE TEACHER'S CONCEPTIONS OF HERSELF, HER ROLE, AND HER IMAGES OF PEOPLE WHO INFLUENCED HER DEVELOPMENT. PERSONALITY WAS VIEWED AS DETERMINED BY THE BALANCE AND CHARACTER BETWEEN THREE PSYCHIC STRUCTURES (ID, EGO-IDEAL, AND SUPEREGO) AND THEIR COORDINATION WITH REALITY BY MEANS OF THE EGO. DIFFERENCES ARE PORTRAYED BETWEEN THE HIGHER SCHOOL WOMAN, MIDDLE SCHOOL WOMAN, AND LOWER SCHOOL WOMAN. (LP)
